Leaders across Borders Program - APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 17, 2010

The Southwest Public Health Leadership Institute’s is announcing the development of a new program, Leaders across Borders (LaB)

The LaB program is an advanced leadership development program designed for public health, health care, and other leaders working to improve the health of communities in the United States and México (U.S.-México) border region. 

Designed to improve the health of U.S.-México border communities, the Leaders across Borders program just announced they are extending the deadline for applications from individuals and teams for its 2010 leadership program to January 17, 2010.

The Leaders across Borders program is designed for:

  • Public health, health care, and other community-sector leaders with at least five years of experience working in the U.S.-México border or binational region

  • Leaders committed to working with underserved populations and promoting health equity

  • Leaders wishing to enhance their leadership skills, professional networks, and understanding of the border and binational public health systems

Leaders across Borders is under the University of Arizona Zuckerman College of Public Health’s Southwest Public Health Leadership Institute, which was provided start-up funding by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and has been jointly developed by multiple partners in the region including the U.S.–México Border Health Commission (BHC), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the State Offices of Border Health, México’s National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the Colegio de Sonora, and Colegio de Frontera Norte. The BHC outreach offices in Arizona and Baja California are assisting with the coordination of the program.
