The Mango, a tropical fruit native to India and Southeast Asia, has been cultivated for approximately 4,000 years. Mangoes consumed here in the United States mainly come from the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America. According to the Web site Fruits & Veggies Matter, mangoes contain 50 calories per half cup, 15 % Vitamin A, and 40% of Vitamin C. This popular fruit is mostly eaten raw. But, it can also be cooked. Mangoes are great in salads and add a hint of exotic flavor to sauces.
