Pomegranate
A great source of vitamins A and C

Pomegranate is produced mainly in Asia, the Mediterranean, and primarily in California here in the U.S. According to the Web page Fruits & Veggies Matter, pomegranates contain 100 calories per medium-sized fruit. It’s rich in Vitamin C (15%) and in Vitamin A (4%). The arils (juice sacs) of the pomegranate are very versatile. They can be enjoyed as is, tossed into salads, and even cooked in main dishes. A great example of its versatility can be found in the traditional Mexican dish called chiles en nogada (chilies in walnut sauce), where the arils of the pomegranate are used for both flavor and a colorful presentation.
