Radish
A root with great health benefits

Radishes have been cultivated since ancient times in China, Greece and Egypt. These vegetables are classified to be in the root and mustard families. According to the Web page Fruits and Veggies Matter, radishes can be eaten raw or cooked, and there are five different varieties. In the United States, radishes are produced in almost all states; but, mainly grown in California and Florida. Fruits and Veggies Matter also mentions that a half cup of sliced radishes contains only 10 calories, 15 % vitamin C, 2 % calcium, and 2 % iron of the recommended daily value to maintain a healthy life.
