Learn about resources available by the USDA to help you educate consumers

Better lifestyle habits can help reduce one’s risk for serious medical conditions, including obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes. For these and other reasons, the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion seek to improve the nutrition and well-being of Americans. Established in 1994, the organization focuses on two primary objectives: to advance and promote dietary guidance; and conduct applied research and analyses in nutrition and consumer economics.
As you seek to educate your respective communities on living healthier lifestyles, the Food Guide Pyramid may serve as a resource to engage your students and/or families you assist. The original Food Guide Pyramid was released in 1992, however with the development of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which the USDA and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released in January 2005, mypyramid.gov was created.
